Welsh Guards Soldier Pte. Daniel Lewis 3446, KIA 11th November 1918 , remembered in a ceremony today.
As the Last Post faded, a Poppy Cross was erected to his memory.
He was selected by the actor Ifan Huw Dafydd
Home of The Royal Welch Fusiliers Museum, the Memorial Garden at Caernarfon Castle opened in July 2016, to mark the one hundred year anniversary of the Battle for Mametz Wood, which resulted in the loss and injury of 4,000 Welsh Soldiers. It contains over 3000 poppies, which have raised over £8,000 for the Poppy Appeal
Shirley Williams (Manager of the Royal Welch Fulisiers Museum) said that the family of Daniel Lewis had requested 'Hedd, perffaith hed '('Peace, perfect peace') to be put on the cross, which is also on the headstone of his grave.
"The Garden continues to grow beyond our wildest dreams" she said.
